A man with over 100 arrests on his record was arrested yet again, this time for callously punching an elderly 92-year-old woman right into a fire hydrant in Manhattan, leaving the victim to be afraid to walk alone in her own neighborhood. The victim, Geraldine, is a native of the Bronx area. She spoke with The Post on Tuesday shortly after police arrested Rashid Brimmage, 31, who’s also a convicted sex offender, and charged him with assault.
“I thought a brick hit me or something hit me on the left side of my head, and I went right down and hit my head against the hydrant,” Geraldine, who asked that her last name be withheld for safety reasons, said of the attack. “Blood was coming out, not spurting blood, but blood was dripping.”

Geraldine has lived in Manhattan for over 50 years. That day she was on her way to Duane Reade when Brimmage is said to have punched her to the pavement somewhere near Third Avenue and East 16th Street in Gramercy Park around 3:30 pm on Friday. The elderly woman’s body hit against the fire hydrant, and she lay on the ground under someone called the police, and medics were able to rush her to a nearby hospital.

The former teacher had never remarried but is currently dating an 89-year-old lawyer. She said that her physical wounds were pretty minor and has since healed. However, her mental anxiety has now become much worse.
“Mostly I’m shaken. My head still hurts where it was bleeding, where I hit the hydrant — or where he hit me, I don’t know,” she said.
“Mainly it’s psychological — just the fear of going out on the street,” she added.
“This damned guy put me in a state where I’m fearful to walk the streets alone. So my super’s trying to find somebody who will walk me to a park nearby or to the supermarket, that kind of thing. So that’s the problem.”
Brimmage was arrested on Tuesday and was charged with assault after officers recognized him from the video of the attack — which considering the size of New York that says a lot. Since 2003, the frequent-flyer criminal has been arrested 103 times for mostly petty crimes as well as sex offenses, according to authorities.

He was convicted of sexual misconduct back in 2012 then arrested for two more sex-related offenses in 2014 said police.
It’s clear that this man needs to be put away for a very long time and probably needs serious psychiatric attention. There’s no reason why he should have been allowed to walk the streets, and hopefully, they put him away before he does something much worst next time. Here’s a video of the attack.
