Four Teen Heroes Follow Intoxicated Young Girl With Her ‘Father’

Sometimes, people can find themselves in situations where they are in the wrong place at the wrong time. But for heroes who decide to face down danger to save another, they tend to look at those situations differently. It takes real courage to put yourself on the line in defense of a stranger, especially when it could cost you your life! For four teenage boys, what started out like any other night quickly turned into an experience none of them will ever forget. Carsyn Wright, Arnaud Nimenya, Starlyn Rives, and James Hielema were skateboarding in an underground parking lot when they saw something unusual that caught their attention. A young girl, around 15-years-old and likely intoxicated was being forcibly dragged through the parking lot by a much older well-dressed man. This immediately raised red flags with the boys who felt something just didn’t feel right.
The girl’s condition was pretty bad. She was so intoxicated that one of the boys remembers how she was screaming and yelling. “She just wanted to be out of there. She was all scuffed up and dirty.” But, after the boys confronted the man in hopes of helping the girl, the man claimed to be the girl’s father. To make matters worse, the girl did not seem to dispute this claim, so the boys stepped back.
You don’t want to really think of the worst in somebody like that. You don’t want that situation to be real, so you just brush it off and hope for the best,” Wright said.
However, the boys could somehow feel that the man wasn’t telling the truth, so they decided to turn around and check on the girl once again, which turned out to be a decision that may have saved her life. Upon seeing them again, the boys were horrified by the gruesome scene unfolding by a parked car. The man was sexually assaulting the young girl who was utterly helpless and could not defend herself.
You walk in, and you see something like that, and you freeze. You don’t know what to do,” Nimenya, one of the young men, said.
They knew they had to act quickly, so they charged the attacker, who then started running in an attempt to escape the parking lot.
He was trying to walk out and walk away from us,” said Nimenya. “He pushed me aggressively out of the way, kinda like just gives me the smile, like, ‘I can do this. You can’t do anything about it.’
But these young heroes were not about to just let this creep make a clean getaway, so they blocked his path. This lead to a physical confrontation after the man took one of the boys’ skateboard and started hitting the boys. Fortunately, the police arrived just in time. The boys were glad to see that the girl was now safe and sound. After the incident, the boys went about the normal lives happy to have done a good deed. The police, however, wasn’t about to let their heroic actions go unnoticed, so they decided to celebrate the teens’ bravery by inviting them to the Chief’s Awards Gala. At the Gala, the boys were presented with awards and public recognition for their heroic deed. We could not be more proud of how these boys handled this life or death situation. Many young men in that scenario would have chosen to ignore the young lady’s plight. These boys are real-life heroes!
