Pilot Takes Off Without Realizing Who His Passenger Is

When most of us get on a plane, we take a step into the plane itself, find a seat, put on our seatbelt and prepare to take to the skies. It seems so routine, but it isn’t quite as routine for a pilot and his crew. There is a lot that goes into flying a plane and checks need to be done before it ever leaves the ground. In addition, it can be even more frustrating for an individual who is just learning how to fly. That was the case with John, who was a new pilot and was learning how to fly a twin-engine plane. He was probably excited to get started this day but in the end, he had an experience that he will never forget! John was told that a twin-engine plane would be waiting at the airport. Arriving at the airport he spotted a plane warming up outside the hanger. He jumped in, said let’s go. The pilot taxied and took off. Once in the air, John told the pilot: Fly low over the valley so I can take pictures of the fire on the hill Pilot: Why.? John: Because I’m the photographer for a television show. I need to get some close-up shots. The pilot was strangely silent for a moment, then he stammered So, what You’re telling me is . . . You’re not my flying instructor? Life is Short… ALWAYS ASK. NEVER ASSUME!
