Most moms can tell you that being pregnant is no walk in the park. Aside from all the body aches, cravings, and being responsible for another life growing inside of you, it’s a lot of hard work! Not only is pregnancy physically exhausting, but it also takes a toll mentally as well, as many feel overwhelmed by a hurricane of emotions and sensations. Then, of course, there are the mood swings and body image issues, not to mention putting up with strangers always trying to touch your belly! I mean, what is that?
Keystone Heights, Florida resident Christine Corbitt, understands all too well about the stress of having a child. Before giving birth in 2019. she had given birth to two kids that, respectively, weighed nine and ten pounds. However, those experiences paled in comparison for what she would experience with her third child, who would end up being even bigger than her last two kids. She noted that since she had had big babies before, she figured that her daughter might be around ten pounds or so, but she was surprised to learn that wasn’t the case. It turns out her daughter, Carleigh Brooke Corbitt, weighed 13 pounds! During her birth, nursed and doctors were amazed.
“When the baby was coming out, I was like, ‘Is this baby ever going to end?’ Everybody in the room kind of just stopped during the delivery and was like, ‘Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh.”

In her experience, baby Carleigh was the biggest baby Dr. Edelenbos ever delivered. When she finally made her world debut, the doctor only had one thought.
“I felt like I was lookin’ at a toddler. I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, she’s just gonna get up and walk to the nursery,’” she said.

Baby Carleigh would enter the world weighing 13-pounds and 5 ounces. And the biggest kicker was that she would have been even bigger if she had been delivered on her original due date! Instead, she was born six days ahead of schedule via c-section.

And of course, none of the clothes the couple received for their little girl was going to fit her. Carleigh wore a size three diaper, which is normally a size reserved for toddlers! Plus, she could only wear clothes made for 9-month olds. To ensure that baby Carleigh and her mom were healthy, the doctor decided to keep them both in the hospital to keep a close eye on them.

As it turns out, the reason why Carleigh grew so big was because her mom developed diabetes. Her diagnosis also puts the baby at risk for health issues. Fortunately, both check out as healthy, and they were allowed to go home. While Carliehg’s dad was surprised by his daughter’s size, he fell in love with his princess right away.
He said, “Her cheeks were so chunky and she was just so fat. She was so gorgeous, of course.”

Not too long after their daughter’s birth, the couple decided to have some professional photos taken of their new bundle of joy. Between them, Christine and her husband have four children. But when asked if she was thinking of having more kids, Christine’s answer was definitive.

“That’s enough for me. We’re going out with a bang.”
