When a celebrity makes headlines, it’s not always for positive reasons. Recently, Amy Slaton, known for her role on *1000-lb Sisters*, found herself in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons after an arrest in September.
The incident occurred when police responded to a call at the Tennessee Safari Park Zoo on September 2. Slaton claimed she had been injured at the park after being bitten by a camel. However, Claude Conley, the park’s owner, later told the press that her injuries didn’t align with a camel bite. While the nature of her injuries raised questions, another issue quickly took center stage.
According to a statement from the local sheriff’s department, officers detected a strong and suspicious odor coming from Slaton’s vehicle when they arrived at the scene. Inside the car were an unidentified adult male and two children. Upon searching the vehicle, police discovered marijuana and illegal mushrooms, both of which were reportedly in plain sight. Slaton and the man were arrested and taken to Crockett County Jail. After posting a $10,000 bond, the two were released, seen leaving hand in hand.
Slaton’s sister, Tammy Slaton, reportedly took custody of the children following the arrest. Meanwhile, Amy has remained silent about the incident, despite returning to social media to share photos of her children celebrating Halloween.
Since the arrest, Slaton has pleaded guilty to several charges. She was found in possession of Schedule I and Schedule VI drugs and initially faced two counts of child endangerment. However, as part of a plea deal, the child endangerment and abuse charges were dismissed, and she is only being charged with drug possession.
The incident has undoubtedly cast a shadow over Slaton’s public image, leaving fans and followers curious about how she will address the situation moving forward.
