Do you remember your life at age 13? At that age, many of us were just trying to finish middle school, worrying about things like passing algebra, school crushes, and how to fit in. However, every once in awhile, we hear about teens her age accomplishing goals that would make many adults green with envy. These teens take their natural talents to the next level with thousands of hours of hard work and sacrifice. But when they put it all together, they make their ability seem so effortless and natural, leaving you us all in awe.
That was the case with a 13-year-old girl named Solomia Lukyanets. She probably shares many of the stresses and worries of girls her age, but she also has something else in her life that she’s focused on as well. Solomia is going for The Voice championship title. She’s sung since she was a very young child and as Solomia grew older, she’s sharpened her skills. Now she’s ready to compete against some of the best in the world.
Because she loves singing and the fact that she has incredible skill, she was able to make it into the popular singing competition. It may have surprised some, by just looking at her that she had made it that far. But once they hear her sing, they immediately understand why she has a shot at the title!
Solomia was born on April 24, 2001, and she most certainly did not grow up in the lap of luxury. Many people in the U.S. are accustomed to a certain standard of living, but when you’re born in a place like Kyiv, Ukraine, you may not have access to the same conveniences. But while her family struggled to survive during her younger years, she’s managed to win several titles. Those titles include World of Talents, New Wave Junior, and the International Competition of Young Opera Singers. She also entered into The Voice Kids, Ukraine and won in 2012.
This time she decided to tackle the classic song “Time to Say Say Goodbye” by Andrea Bocelli, and she not only nailed it but brought the house down.
As soon as she voiced her note on the microphone, the audience fell under her spell. It was such a moving performance that she even brought one of the judges and quite a few audience members to tears. When you hear the power and emotion in her voice, you’ll know right away that Solomia Lukyanets is more than just your average 13-year-old, she’s possibly a music Icon in the making.
