5-Year-Old’s 911 Call To Save Dad’s Life Is Cracking Everyone Up

Get ready, because this story is almost too heartwarming to handle. A 911 call is often a nerve-wracking experience, especially when it involves a dad experiencing chest pains and difficulty breathing. But in this case, the conversation between a 5-year-old girl and 911 dispatcher Jason Bonham turned what could have been a terrifying situation into something equal parts heartwarming and hilarious. If you haven’t heard the recording that’s been making the rounds since 2010, you’re in for a treat—it’s a timeless gem.

The incident unfolded when an Indiana dad dialed 911 from his cell phone but was unable to speak due to his condition. His young daughter, Savannah, stepped up and took charge of the call. Despite her age, Savannah remained impressively calm, collected, and articulate, answering Bonham’s questions with ease—and even sprinkling in some adorable commentary along the way.

At Bonham’s instruction, Savannah made sure the front door was unlocked so emergency responders could enter. She also gave him a heads-up about their dog, Lou Lou, describing her as "small,” "friendly,” and prone to barking a lot. Throughout the call, she reassured her dad, saying things like, "Don’t worry, Dad,” and "Stay calm, Dad.” She even kept Bonham updated with a cheerful, "So far, so good.”

But the highlight of the call came when Savannah casually mentioned that she and her dad were still in their pajamas. "I don’t know what I’m gonna wear, but… he really needs oxygen, real fast,” she told Bonham, adding a touch of humor to the tense situation.

Bonham later admitted he was amazed by Savannah’s composure. "Most people you talk to in these situations are hysterical,” he told Eyewitness News. "Every time I listen to the call, it’s incredible. She’s just a little person.”

Fortunately, the story had a happy ending—Savannah’s dad was okay after the scare. When the recording went viral, Savannah’s mom shared her gratitude on Facebook, writing, "We are so grateful and blessed that Savannah’s 911 call is still being shared. It makes the entire night worthwhile. The more awareness it brings, and the more adults who teach children what to do in emergencies, the better!”

Kudos to Savannah’s parents for teaching her so well. This little girl truly was a hero that day!
