Children’s Choir Perform Inspirational Rendition Of Josh Groban’s “You Raise Me Up”

Throughout the years, the iconic song "You Raise Me Up,” made popular by opera superstar Josh Groban, has been covered by countless artists. However, not many people know that the song was originally written back in 1977 by an Irish-Norwegian duo called the Secret Garden.

The duo performed mainly all-instrumental music, and the song’s melody was composed by Rolf Loveland. The melody drew inspiration from songs like Londonderry Air, which was also the tune used in the popular Irish song "Danny Boy.” Loveland first performed the song at his mother’s funeral. He noted: "there’s something about the song people are embracing – which becomes emotionally strong. […] I believe people think of it as a song they use for their own stuff.”

Also, the original studio mix used a violin. And with the lyrical version, you can feel the passion emoting from every word, note after powerful note. The song stands as a timeless classic and is beloved by millions for its inspirational lyrics and universal message promoting love, peace, and hope. This message truly comes across when you hear the song performed by these amazing youthful voices singing together as one. "You raise Me Up” is a tough song to perform, but this group managed to sing it flawlessly.

Here are the lyrics: "When I am down, and, oh, my soul, so weary When troubles come, and my heart burdened be Then, I am still and wait here in the silence Until you come and sit awhile with me” "You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains You raise me up to walk on stormy seas I am strong when I am on your shoulders You raise me up to more than I can be” Songs like this are just what the world needs right now.
