Missing 9-Year-Old Girl Featured On 'Unsolved Mysteries' Has Been Found

One of the most heartbreaking experiences in life is losing someone close to you. Sadly, this can occur when children go missing due to malicious intent.

This was the case six years ago when Heather Unbehaun was accused of abducting her daughter in Illinois. After years of uncertainty, Heather has now turned herself in, bringing an end to this high-profile case.

Unbehaun is currently in custody in Illinois, facing charges, and is being held without bail.

Just days before her surrender, her daughter, Kayla Unbehaun, was found safe in North Carolina. She has since been reunited with her custodial father.

Meanwhile, Heather was arrested in North Carolina on a fugitive warrant issued by Illinois. Initially held on a $250,000 bond, she was released after posting bail.

The incident dates back to July 4, 2017, when Kayla was taken after a parade near her home. Heather had told Kayla’s father they were going camping, but they never returned. This led to a felony warrant being issued for Heather’s arrest.

The breakthrough in the case came when someone in Asheville recognized Kayla from the *Unsolved Mysteries* series on Netflix. They contacted authorities, ultimately leading to Kayla’s discovery and the resolution of the case.
