Pentatonix Delivers Hauntingly Beautiful A Capella Cover of ‘Mary Did You Know”

Without question, “Mary Did You Know” is one of the greatest modern-day Christmas songs that’s sure to be a classic for generations. It was originally written by Mark Lowry in 1984 and first recorded by Christian recording artist Michael English in 1991. But while the song has seen its share of covers over the years, none are quite like the cover performed by one of the world’s best a Cappella groups, Pentatonix.  This world-famous quintet delivers some haunting melodies to this powerful Christmas hymn. It took over seven years for Lowry to perfect the lyrics to this enchanting song, and Pentatonix more than does it justice. The idea for the song first came to Lowry while he was writing a Christmas program for Jerry Falwell. He started thinking about what he would ask Mary if she was sitting there with him. He wondered how she must have felt when the angel told her that she was to give birth to the child of God. He then put together some questions which would eventually become the lyrics we all celebrate today. Decades later, this song still resonates deeply within the hearts of people all over the world. And once you hear this incredible Pentatonix rendition, you will feel it touch your heart as well.
‘Mary did you know that your baby boy will give sight to a blind man? Mary did you know that your baby boy will calm a storm with his hand? Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod? When you kiss your little baby, you kiss the face of God’. ‘Mary did you know that your baby boy is Lord of all creation? Mary did you know that your baby boy would one day rule the nations? Did you know that your baby boy is heaven’s perfect lamb? That sleeping child you’re holding is the great I am’
