A workplace shooting at Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital, just north of Detroit, left a 25-year-old employee wounded Thursday morning and raised urgent concerns about safety in healthcare settings. The suspect, also a hospital employee, opened fire in a parking garage around 7:08 a.m., striking his coworker twice in the arm.
The victim was quickly treated at the hospital’s emergency department and remains in stable condition, expected to recover. The motive for the attack has not yet been disclosed. Authorities swiftly apprehended the suspect without further incident, but the shooting caused widespread panic, forcing a temporary lockdown of the facility.
