Watch These Adorable Grade Schoolers Perform Their Well-Choreographed Musical Chairs Dance

If you’re like most of us, you probably remember playing the party game musical chairs at some point in your childhood. The game was simple, a group of children circles either a circle or row of chairs as the music plays. Once it stops, the kids sit down as fast as they can to secure their seats. However, there’s always one seat left out and the last child standing is eliminated. The origins of this game remains a mystery, however, there’s evidence to suggest that there have been versions of this game played by different cultures all over the world throughout history. Now, depending on how you look at it, this game teaches and represents many different philosophies and social concepts. One view is that life is unfair and there are sometimes winners and losers. Therefore you have to fight to get your “seat” at the table and you may not always succeed. On one hand, this allows children to learn about disappointment and the nature of competition. On the other hand, it also endorses a selfish, “me first” mentality as it demonstrates and promotes the “scarcity mentality” over the idea of abundance. In other words, there’s a lot of deep stuff happening when kids play this game, which may be why so many schools choose to no longer play it. And many on both sides agree and disagree with that call. In this video from 2018, four grade-schoolers have turned the game into an adorable dance routine. These kids put on a heck of a show, with a pretty dangerous chair jump at the end to wrap things up. And how about those sparkling black fedoras? You can watch these cute kids and their “musical chair” dance in the video below.
